God's dietary commands in the End Times?
Many believers today seem to think that God's dietary instructions seen in Leviticus 11 and Deuteronomy 14 not applicable today. There are a lot of scriptures being ignored and/or taken out of context in the New Testament to 'do away' with these instructions. The majority seem to think that these instructions are not for today because we have things like refrigerators, stoves, ovens and science tells us how to properly cook food. Seems logical but... One thing most do not look at is the scriptures - God is the same yesterday, today and forever. We see that in the Old Testament and New Testament the food laws were never abolished. Even Jesus confirmed this... “Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to fulfill. For assuredly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one tittle will by no means pass from the law till all is fulfilled. Whoever therefore breaks one of the least of these commandments, and teaches men so, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever does and teaches them, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven." Matthew 5:17-19 Heaven and Earth are still here so the law, including the dietary instructions have not been done away with. However we need to ask "Do we see anything about the dietary laws in the scriptures during the end times? If we can find examples of the dietary laws in the END TIMES then we have to conclude that the laws were NEVER done away with. So what does scripture say? "For behold, the Lord will come with fire And with His chariots, like a whirlwind, To render His anger with fury, And His rebuke with flames of fire. 16 For by fire and by His sword The Lord will judge all flesh; And the slain of the Lord shall be many. 17 “Those who sanctify themselves and purify themselves, To go to the gardens after an idol in the midst, Eating SWINE'S flesh and the abomination and the MOUSE, Shall be consumed together,” says the Lord. 18 “For I know their works and their thoughts. It shall be that I will gather all nations and tongues; and they shall come and see My glory. 19 I will set a sign among them; and those among them who escape I will send to the nations: to Tarshish and Pul[a] and Lud, who draw the bow, and Tubal and Javan, to the coastlands afar off who have not heard My fame nor seen My glory. And they shall declare My glory among the Gentiles. 20 Then they shall bring all your brethren for an offering to the Lord out of all nations, on horses and in chariots and in litters, on mules and on camels, to My holy mountain Jerusalem,” says the Lord, “as the children of Israel bring an offering in a clean vessel into the house of the Lord. 21 And I will also take some of them for priests and Levites,” says the Lord. 22 “For as the new heavens and the new earth Which I will make shall remain before Me,” says the Lord, “So shall your descendants and your name remain. 23 And it shall come to pass That from one New Moon to another, And from one Sabbath to another, All flesh shall come to worship before Me,” says the Lord. 24 “And they shall go forth and look Upon the corpses of the men Who have transgressed against Me. For their worm does not die, And their fire is not quenched. They shall be an abhorrence to all flesh.” Ref. Isaiah 66:15-24 Now all bible scholars agree that Isaiah 66:15-24 is a prophesy about the end times which is still in our future. With that said there is a reason for God's wrath - its obviously wickedness but notice in verse 17 we see a specific examples... Eating swine/pig and mice! Both are lumped together with abominations before God. So here is proof that God's dietary laws have not been done away with and it has nothing to do with refrigerators, stoves or our ability to cook foods properly. Now the problem many believers have now is that they change their beliefs to be in accordance with God's word OR ignore this scripture about the end times. To ignore it means one has to say the entire book of Isaiah is a false teaching; and anyone who references the book of Isaiah is also a false teacher and not to be trusted because of their heresy. Perhaps we should look at what Jesus said... Mark 7:6-7 "He answered and said to them, “Well did Isaiah prophesy of you hypocrites, as it is written: ‘This people honors Me with their lips, But their heart is far from Me. 7 And in vain they worship Me, Teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.’ Jesus was quoting Isaiah 29:13 so if you claim that God's dietary instructions have been done away with, you have to believe that Jesus is promoting a false teaching... NOT. So when someone tries to do away with God's instructions which Jesus said He did not abolish, show them Isaiah 66:15-24. Perhaps we should follow God and His word versus the traditions and commandments of men.
